Hi, my name is Tonya and I am from Bluefield, WV. I used to live in northern VA (NoVA)
in Stafford, VA near Washington, DC. I am originally from Welch, WV which used to be
the largest coal mining town in America back in the 1950s-1990s. Welch was such a booming
town that it used to be called "Little New York". Bluefield and Welch are located in the
southern part of the state. I love living in WV! We have such beautiful mountains and hiking trails!
We are well known for a few films filmed that were filmed in our small town of Welch,
one was called Z for Zachariah" which was a movie about the end times and the other movie
was called "The Glass Castle". My fiancé Ray from Welch, WV who has since passed away,
even got a small part in the movie "The Glass Castle" because of where he worked at
The Welch Newspaper and they wanted to film there. It was a very cool experience for
him he told me. He told me that the movie crew LOVED filming in Welch because the
town is very old and they did not have to make it look old for the film. If you watch
the film, he is the man printing out the newspapers.
Below are a few pictures of Welch, WV where I was born and raised.
The first picture is an old picture of my dad with his brothers and sisters.
Their dad, who was my grandfather, immigrated to America back in the late
1800's from Austria, Hungary. My dad's name was Fred and he is in the red shirt.
He served in the Navy during World War II where he worked on the mechanical
instruments inside of American bomber airplanes.
The 2nd picture is an old picture of my dad's jewelry and music store that he
owned and ran for over 30 years where he sold gold and silver diamond jewelry as
well as musical instruments such as electric keyboards, acoustic guitars, electric guitars,
guitar strings, banjos, violins, sound systems, band instruments (i.e. trumpets, flutes,
saxophones, clarinets, drums, etc.) as well as silver certificate dollar bills, gold coins,
silver coins, and so much more. He was quite an eclectic collector I must say.
I never will forget it. Back in the late 1980's, I remember how I used to walk home from
school every day and stop by the store to see my dad. He would have some food that
he bought at a local restaurant and tell me to go and get me something to eat.
I miss those days so much and I greatly miss my dad. He passed away in 2002 at the age of 79.
I dedicate my eBay store to my Heavenly Father and to my dad for teaching me so
many wonderful values throughout my life that I will carry on forever and ever.
Until we meet again...
About me and how I got started...I started selling on eBay back in 2006 at home to
make some extra money. At first, I was selling home décor and health related items.
Then, I learned how to design an eBay Store Logo on my computer and it was a lot
of fun, so I started to make them for other eBay sellers along with eBay Listing Templates.
A few months later, I took a designer test that eBay had given and I passed!
I became a Certified eBay Store Designer and I have not stopped since.
I love designing. It is truly 1 of my greatest passions in life! I also sell on Etsy.
I wanted to learn more about website design, so I attended the University of Phoenix
and also the Art Institute. I learned so much! I am forever grateful to all of my college instructors.
I would love to go back to college, but it's so hard because it costs so much money to go.
So in the meantime, I am designing websites full-time from home and
I absolutely love it! I love helping people start up their own online business
and make their dreams come true!
Below are some examples of my graphic design work:
When I am not designing, I love to spend time with my family doing fun things like boating, swimming,
studying Bible Prophecy, and of course designing! If there is anything that I can help you with, please
feel free to contact me. I am very happy to help you. I answer all emails within approximately 24 hours,
usually the same day.
Below is a video that I took of Welch, WV a few years ago with my mom as we were riding through town.
It had been several years since we had been to Welch. It was such a beautiful feeling to
be able to reminisce...even for a moment...about my family, my friends, and about our
small town that we all loved so much.
Please turn up the volume to hear the beautiful music that I added to the video.
